What made the starter-template homepage no longer enough as the lead?
How StartupKit changed, before and after.

Before is Internet Archive text rendered for comparison; the archive did not save the page design.
StartupKit went from a starter template to a family of agent products
The homepage hero changed from “The startup stack for the AI era,” with supporting copy about founders who move fast and AI tools that help them, plus an npx startupkit init monorepo demo (auth, analytics, database packages), to “Build, launch, and grow your startup,” with StartupKit framed as a family of agent-native products: Stack (a production-ready SaaS, free), Launch (research and go-to-market), and Ads (coming soon), Research in the nav, and Free to start with Pro at $28/mo for unlimited.
Before is verbatim homepage text from the May 20, 2026 Internet Archive HTML snapshot; the archive did not keep the styled page design. After is the live site observed September 24, 2026. These dates bound the visible website change, not the exact rewrite. March 11, 2026 Wayback HTML still shows the starter-stack framing and is supporting context only. Ian’s last 8 X posts at review time did not mention StartupKit; public talk for this change is WIP. The founder has not confirmed why this exact hero wording was chosen or whether the change improved results.
Name the product family on the homepage.
Ian publicly described reworking the StartupKit homepage so Stack, Launch, and Ads are finally named, with Research as a fourth product area and Free/Pro pricing. Our reading: the later homepage presents StartupKit as a family of agent-native products instead of leading with a starter monorepo scaffold. The founder has not confirmed why this exact hero was chosen.
The page asks visitors to init a monorepo with pre-configured auth, analytics, SEO, and database packages.
The page names Stack, Launch, and Ads (with Research) and shows Free to start with Pro at $28/mo.

Stack/Launch/Ads finally named, Research in as a fourth product area, fuller product cards with a Coming soon badge for Ads, pricing grid down to two columns for Free/Pro
Verified from the public WIP todo page on September 24, 2026 (01:06 UTC on September 21, 2026). It describes the homepage rework. It does not timestamp the live hero wording or prove business impact. The published WIP body includes an em dash after “homepage”; this quote is the contiguous span after that mark.
